busy, busy, busy

Yes. That's my current mode right now. But I still manage to make a post here, lol.

Anyways after a very short but fun trip to Tagaytay yesterday with la famille (will post on this later), I am now back to reality and swamp with lots of work and meetings today and the next three days. My schedule is full packed! As in! I have to finish a lot of work by Wednesday so that I can afford to be on leave on Friday. I have a scheduled ultrasound on that day and we plan to have my Dad's check-up on the same day also instead of Saturday. So, I have to work, work, work my butt off till Wednesday. If not, I think I have to go to work on Friday at least in the morning. Hay, hirap mag-work. How I wish I could just be a SAHW (STAY AT HOME WIFE) na lang hehehe. Ah, hunny? Can you hear me? :)

plans for the weekend

My Dad is here in Manila for his monthly check-up scheduled next week. I want to take advantage of this and now i'm planning for our family summer activities with our him. You see, my dad had a stroke more than a decade ago and due to that, his walking was affected and he never got back to his normal pace. Especially now that his getting older, he's more "nahihirapan" walking that's why we usually have a wheelchair with us whenever we go malling.

So everytime he comes here for his monthly check-up, we want to make sure that we spend more time with him since this is our only chance to do it considering we all work here in Manila. So this weekend, we are planning a trip to the mall probably to watch a movie (my Dad loves going to the movies) after his Ultrasound at NKTI on Saturday. On Sunday, we will all troop to Tagaytay for a quick trip for some sightseeing and of course, food tripping. We might go there Sunday morning till lunch where we plan to have a sumptuous meal in Josephine's.

I hope that all our plans for this weekend will push through. I am planning also for a short get-away to Club Manila East for some swimming on May 1 as it is a holiday and since malapit lang sya para my Dad will not get tired naman. With this I would like to ask some questions lang for those who have tried CME na? Ok ba ang CME for disabled guest? I mean may provisions for disabled guests like ramps, etc.? I want sana to bring my Dad with us when we go swimming para at least he can also enjoy the summer. We'll stay for one whole day lang ok ba yung mga cabanas nila? I'm just concerned lang kasi if we're bringing Dad with us, I want a place where he can comfortably rest while we are swimming hehehe. Will appreciate your comments/suggestions....Thanks in advance guys :)

With my recent experience of a delayed medical procedure, I am now beginning to realize how hard it is to fix the schedule of a doctor. While my Urologist, who handled my procedure last Saturday, is equipped with a PDA to keep him track of all his scheduled operations, consultations and other medical procedures, I bet he does not know about the the latest innovations wherein PDA's can help in assisting doctors as a medical reference. One company that develops medical softwares that can be uploaded in a smartphone or a PDA phone is Epocrates.com. At Epocrates, one can download free medical applications for blackberry which he can use to access the information he needs to make prescribing decisions especially if the doctor is out and his patient is in some far away place. Such informations are drug dosing, side effects and health plan coverage. Epocrates also is credited as one of the best for making pocket-size devices into a staple in every doctor's lab coats. It's just too hard to not have one these days. That's why every physician must have this wonderful gadget not only for showing but also this could help them a lot organizing their very hectic scheduled and make sure that he makes the right medical decision. What's more this will not be only available in blackberrys but later on in apple products such as Iphone and Ipod for more versatility. If you want to find out more and plan to recommend this to your physicians, do check out ther site www.epocrates.com for more info on their other products and services.

Finally, after being tag by Jane and Tet, I am now ready to reveal the two men I want to sleep with aside from hubby of course. I hope he's not reading this, lol. But he knows that these two guys are my longtime crushes na. Harmless naman, di ba?

1. Shane West

I just love Shane West. I first took notice of him lately na lang in the movie "A Walk to Remember". When I saw the movie, I fell in love with him right away, lol. He's not really that "good" looking compared to other matinee idols but there's something sexy about him that I like and I don't even know what it is! Maybe it's his eyes. I like his cool aura also. I also like his character in E.R.

2. Sen. Chiz Escudero

Cute ni Sen. Chiz noh? :) Aside from having a boy-next-door appeal, Sen. Chiz is a very smart and articulate person and I think that these traits adds up to his sexiness, hehehe. Di ba it would be nice to sleep with someone who's good looking and has brains pa? Bonus na talaga yun! I like him best when he's just in a casual attire (t-shirt and jeans)

My ESWL experience

Last saturday was my scheduled "shockwave" procedure at the Medical City. If you have read my post here and here, you know why I have to go through this procedure. Anyhow, let me share with you how it went:

11:00 - We left the house to fetch my sister who lives in West Ave. as she will be coming with us. I was quite in panic mode already cause my appointment is at 11:30 and we're still nowhere near the hospital. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I was calm the whole time ad when we reached the hospital, i'm still in pretty high spirits.

11:25 - Arrrived at The Medical City Ambulatory O.R. where the procedure will be held. Good thing we still beat the time as it would be too "dyahe" to my doctors if i'll be late. The doctors weren't there yet so I had time to fill-up pages and pages of forms the nurse handed over to me. You know, the usual personal data forms, waiver agrrement (in case anything happens to you), etc. It's quite a lot I tell you and I was in a hurry because the doctors may come in any minute and i'm still not prepared! So after finally accomplishing all the required forms, I was ushered to the dressing room to change into the standard hospital robe. Afterwhich, I was led to the Stone Unit room.

12:00 - The Guy Nurse Aide/Tachnician ushered me in the Stone Unit and to my mind it's just like an xray room. There's a bed and a big machine beside it (later on I found out it's the ESWL machine pala, lol), monitoring equipments for BP(Sphygmo), Heart (ECG), Pulse (the one they clip on your finger), etc. There's also an ultrasound machine for proper identification and location of the stones to be lasered. I was instructed to lie down immediately on the bed and the Nurse (he's very polite by the way) started "localizing" me and all. It's what they call when the patient is being prepared for the procedure, wherein he/she will be asked to lie down with the side where the kidney stones are situated (keft or right) exposed. Meaning there's an "uka" in the bed so that the concerned area will be accesible from beneath the bed. Later on, I found out that it has to be like that because a water spongy thing will be the one supporting my exposed "tagiliran" apparently to protect this side from the shocks. After the nurse finally positioned me in the bed, he started locating the stones with the help of the ultrasound and when he did, he asked me not to move anymore as this will now be the basis of my doctor in the procedure. So, this is critical, I mean I cannot move so much as we have to find the stones again if i did. So, i just lie still even if the room is becoming colder (grabe ang lamig). The nurse also started attaching the monitoring equipments to my body such as the Sphygmo (to monitor my BP every 5 minutes! as in parang may pumipiga ng arms ko every 5 mins!), the ECG for my heart, and pulse. I was told to wait as my doctors including my anesthesiologist were still in the main O.R. doing a very critical operation. In other words, delayed kami! Hay! I was so hungry pa naman as i was told to go fasting and did not take anything since I woke up that morning. So, I waited and waited and waited. Gutom na ako giniginaw pa! But the nurse was very apologetic and told me to be patient as he did'nt want me stand up na so that I won't be localized again. Wala naman akong magagawa. Eh sa wala pa yung mga doctors eh. The bad thing though is that there's another schedule at 1:30 after me pero since I was delayed, ganun na rin sya. Mas gutom pa sya sa akin, lol. Kawawa naman my hubby and sister waiting for me outside kasi baka magutom sila so I asked the nurse to advise them of the delayed schedule so that they can eat first muna. We thought kasi this procedure will last only a few hours (including recovery period).

1:45 - Yes, After almost two hours of lying, waiting in that cold room, the doctors finally arrived! Nakatulog na nga ako eh! First came the anesthesiologist, he apologizes and then asked the routinary questions. I told him I have Ashtma so he asked the nurse to give me an oxygen mask to be safe. Hay, ang dami na ng nakakabit sakin! He explained the procedure and why I have to be put to sleep (sedated lng naman). I said ok para matapos na rin kasi gutom na ako. Then, after a while my urologist entered the room na rin. He said to me " O, go na tyo ha?" I said yes Doc! in my mind, I was saying " ang tagal nyo po!" But, sige na lang. Nandito na eh. Siguro lang, dapat when he scheduled me two weeks ago for this procedure, di na sya dapat nag-sked ng major operation prior to that kasi he'll never know the outcome of that kung matatapos agad or what di ba? Anyway, maybe he has his reasons kaya ok na lang din. I prayed hard na sana di pa sila masyado pagod hehehe. Ako kaya yung nakasalang :)

2:00 - Finally, the anesthesia was finally administered and in a few seconds after, I dozzed off to tralaland. I don't remember anything na. As in!

3:45 - The whole thing is finished. The first thing I remember is that someone was talking in the background and someone has put something on my hand. Di ko alam what it was as I was so groggy. I realized that I was being transferred from another bed and dozzed off again. After a while (i don't have much recollection of the time), I was awakened by a slight pain in my left side and when I opened my eyes, i was already in a different room na. I was in the recovery room na pala. Di ko maalala how I got there. Tapos there are plenty of empty beds so I said, "nasa recovery room na ako". I slept a little pa pero medyo masakit talaga yung left side ko kaya di na rin ako nakatulog ng matagal. And then finally, nung medyo nararamdam ko na rin na gutom na ako, I called the attention of the nurse and she checked on me. If I don't feel dizzy na raw, etc. I said no na kasi i feel so hungry na. Mahihilo na ako sa gutom! Imagine wala pa akong kinakain since morning not even a drop of water! Kaya pinilit ko na talaga tumayo, I swear! She then led me to the waiting area where my hubby is already waiting na. My sister is downstairs pala filing my Philhealth. So, when she arrived I already asked to be brought to the fastfood area to eat. So, in a wheelchair, we then proceeded to Max's and grab my first meal of the day. At 4 in the afternoon! Oh by the way, the thing that was on my hand pala is my hair clip hehehe. I was wearing one pala siguro natanggal na kaya inipit sa kamay ko :)

6:00 PM - Arrived home. I was too tired from the whole procedure plus my back is really masakit na. There's a swelling and some bruises because of the shocks siguro and when I complained it pala sa hospital, normal daw yun after the procedure. I was given lots of medicines including a pain reliever. Hubby immediately rushed to Mercury before we left the hospital so that I can take na the pain reliever kasi unbearable na yung sakit sakin. I slept for about two hours when I got home dahil na rin sa pain. When I woke up my mother-in-law put some hot compress para mawala daw yung swelling.

I took a day-off yesterday to have some more rest. I'm back in the office now. The swelling is gone already pero may konting bruises pa. Other than that, no noticeable side effects naman. I am also noticing "sandy" particles in my urine na hopefully eto na yung mga nadurog na kidney stones ko. I will still experience this daw in the next coming days. I hope that they were able to make "durog" all the stones. I will find out in my next ultrasound scheduled next week.

P.S. Thanks to all who gave their warm wishes pala :)

Good Luck Hunny!

Husband is set to attend a very "important" meeting on Friday. Work related it is. Let's just say he has decided to try his luck in pursuing other options, career-wise. He is actually "invited" to join a relatively young and dynamic organization. It has been his dream to work for a project such as high-rise development. I'm supporting him on his new endeavor as I have full trust and confidence in his qualifications and i'm pretty sure he'll get the job.

Good Luck Hun! It's about time you "explore" the outside world, lol. The corporate world that is. No matter what, remember that i'll always be proud of you and that I am your No.1 Fan :)

Last Saturday, together with some friends, we watched the movie "The Other Boleyn Girl" in Trinoma. At first, I was just curious about this movie. I never thought that I would actually enjoy watching it. I thought it was just another period movie but since I researched about the Boleyn sisters in the internet before the watching, I got more interested. We all know Anne Boleyn from our World History days in high school, right? But we never got to know the other sister who reportedly had bore King Henry's son. Hay.. the saga of Royal love, betrayal and treason is just unbelievable. You got to see this movie, i swear. There are some differences though on what we read on the books. But overall, the movie practically gave a detailed account on the lives of the Boleyn family, King Henry, Queen Catherine and other characters we just read on the books.

To save, that is. With the recent rice crisis we are experiencing here in the country and the other economic-related problems around the globe, one will think twice, or many times for that matter, before spending their hard-earned money over some investments. Just the other day, while having our lunch break, a good friend of mine and I were discussing the best investment we can possibly engaged ourselves in right now. We both know that times are hard nowadays and every penny counts so we would not want to risk a big chunk of our savings over something that will make us regret doing later on. Good thing, I chanced upon this site, Monex Deposit Company (MDC), wherein you can purchase silver, gold or other precious metals and coins. They are a reputable business entity that has existed for over 30 years and considered as America’s gold, silver and precious metals investment leader. Here you can buy gold as an investment. Besides, buying gold has been recognized for centuries as one of the best ways to preserve one’s wealth and purchasing power. Gold bullion is a unique investment. From the time of ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans to more modern times, man has had an affinity for gold bullion. Gold coins are known to be an outstanding investment oppurtunity. And getting it from MDC is probably the wisest decision one will ever make when thinking of venturing into this kind of investment. So, if you are interested on protecting and securing your future for your loved ones, why not visit this site and get more information about this wonderful investment oppurtunity. Who knows? This could lead to something big in the future.

on auto recycling

A friend of mine, who is now based in the states, is currently overhauling an old car which he plans to give as a gift to his teenage son on his birthday. So far, he has been very satisfied with midwest auto recycling, a shop where he gets all the parts he needs for the restoration of the automobile. This shop specializes in used car engines and transmissions and has one of the strongest warranty in the U.S. What is great about them also is that all the miles are CARFAX verified. With this, you are assured of high quality purchase as their parts were inspected for compression, started, cylinder leak down tested, checked for oil pressure and are cleaned before it gets to your vehicle. So, my friend will never have to worry about safety when he turned-over this car to his son. If you have plans of reconditioning an old car just like what my friend did, you know that you can find the best parts in midwest auto recycling. All you have to do is pay them a visit anytime.

    am i feeling nervous?

I didn't go to work today. I was having a bad headache this morning and a pain in my lower back so I decided to stay home and rest. These past few days, i've been feeling a lot of irregular things concerning my body. Hell, I don't know, maybe i'm just thinking a lot about saturday. This coming saturday, I mean. You see, this coming Saturday, I was scheduled for my ESWL procedure at The Medical City. This concerns my kidney stones as my doctor recommended that we go through this procedure. My stones, we found out, were calcium-based making it more harder to break and flushed-out from my body by merely taking medicines in which I already did na. So, upon my doctor's and husband's persuasion, I agreed to finally do it. So what is ESWL?

According to WEBMD.com, Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) uses shock waves to break a kidney stone into small pieces that can more easily travel through the urinary tract and pass from the body.

    For this procedure,
    • You lie on a water-filled cushion, and the surgeon uses X-rays or ultrasound tests to precisely locate the stone. High-energy sound waves pass through your body without injuring it and break the stone into small pieces. These small pieces move through the urinary tract and out of the body more easily than a large stone.
    • The process takes about an hour.
    • You may receive sedatives or local anesthesia.
    • Your surgeon may use a stent when your stones are larger than 2.5 cm. A stent is a small, short tube of flexible plastic mesh that holds the ureter open. This helps the small stone pieces to pass without blocking the ureter.

It will be an out-patient procedure and will take only a few hours then i'll be sent home. It's a non-invasive procedure and the safest procedure they say so I have nothing to worry about. But, being the real me, who's afraid of hospitals and the stuff that goes with it, I guess i'm quite afraid of the procedure. I'll be under anesthesia so I won't be able to feel anything. I have full confidence and trust in my doctor naman. So why am I feeling this way? Maybe because i'm really "duwag lang" about the whole thing, lol. I just hope and pray that it will be a success meaning that the stones will totally be broken down to small pieces and eventually will be flushed-out of my body. I hope that it will not have an effect on my kidneys as I was having this strange idea that the shockwaves will sort of "damage" my kidneys. But my doctor, made it very clear to me that it will not in anyway have a bad effect on my kidney or any part of my body. It's a perfectly safe procedure daw. So, with that, I agreed na rin.

So, guys, I will have to humbly ask for your prayers for the success of this procedure on Saturday. Your prayers will surely give me enough courage in going through this :)

I’m tagging Abie, Eds, Mich, MM, and Alpha.

    For my results:

    ABOUT
It seems like you're someone who can't imagine life without romantic frolics. Maybe it's because you fall in love so easily. You tend to be very quick to get involved too and like to jump into relationships feet first. It's all about intuition and chemistry when it comes to picking a match. Love is so important to you that you probably don't feel quite complete unless you get your fair share of affection and there's a danger that your love might dwindle as the passion fades. For a relationship to endure, you need to work on making sure that there's more to it than physical attraction.

EMOTIONS You can't help being such a passionate person. It makes you feel alive - love is your life-blood. It fills you with energy and makes the world seem even more beautiful. Right now you couldn't imagine a better place to be. You are positively glowing with happiness and feeling very comfortable and secure. Just how you like it.

PERCEPTIONS If you're in a relationship, it's probably very intense. You'll grab as much one-on-one time with your lover as you can. For you, love is about feeling completely relaxed and comfortable in our own space. Your choice of animal shows that you can be quite carefree when it comes to love. But you're not averse to feeling the odd burst of butterflies in the stomach when you're really smitten.

ASPIRATIONS You can't do love by halves. You make strong commitments. The physical side of love is essential to you. Touching really helps you to connect with the one you love. You believe in living in the moment. And grabbing every precious second you can with the one you love. You're a deeply sensual soul. You need plenty of physical contact in your relationship. If you can't keep your hands off your partner, that''s sure-fire guarantee that things'll last.

    Book meme from Eds

Hay.. finally, I got the chance to do some of the tags. Starting with this one...

Got this book meme from Eds. Thank sis! I love doing this because I love reading books.

    Here it goes:

    Book Page 123

    The Rules:

    1. Pick up the nearest book of 123 (or more) pages. ….

Donald Spoto's "Enchantment - The Life of Audrey Hepburn "

    2. Open the book to page 123 and find the 5th sentence. ….

The company doctor told The Playwright Company he feared she might be headed for a complete physical and emotional breakdown.

    3. Post the next 3 sentences. ….

The Oscar and the Tony were not an unmixed blessing: henceforth, every Audrey Hepburn undertaking was expected to be hugely successful, commercially and artistically. Not yet twenty-five, she had attained a level of accomplishment toward which seasoned professionals often works for years or even decades. How could she possibly sustain this height of achievement?

    4. Tag 5 people. ….

Jacqui, Jody, Tet, Retche and Vina.

    on losing weight

Losing weight has never been an easy task. Would you believe, I used to be thin when I was in high school weighing about 95 lbs only? Yes, that's true. And when I was about to enter college and was contemplating on taking up chemical engineering, my mother discouraged me to do so because she felt that I was too thin and the chemicals that I might enhale will have a bad effect on me. That's why I took up civil engineering instead upon the request and instruction of my mom. But I have no regrets because later I realized that it was really my calling. But that event made me realized that I used to be thin when I was younger and now, I am not! I guess over the years, I gained weight to the point that I can not control it anymore. It has always been my goal to at least decrease my weight by about 10 lbs. because that would be my ideal weight for my height. However, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to find the right way to achieve this goal. I have tried everyhing from going to the gym, limit my food intake especially sweets and fatty foods, and even taking some herbal medicines that apparently increases my metabolism for better food digestion. I thought of taking diet pills before as it has been the fastest and easiest way to lose weight but was too afraid to do so because of some horrifying news i've heard about taking them. Good thing, there is Acomplia ,a popular weight loss medicine that has been hailed as the miracle weight loss medicine. It's active ingredient Rimonabant, is known for blocking the brain of food cravings and other substances. This way, your hunger and food craving will be lessen because of this wonderful ingredient. Minimal side effects will be experienced when taking this drug but they will be gone soon as the body had time to acclimate to the medication. But still, this should still be aided with the proper exercise and diet to ensure weight loss the soonest possible time.

So, if you want to lose weight, Rimonabant is the best thing to do to be able to achieve this difficult task. It's tried and tested and most imporant of all, safe.

This coming weekend will not be just an ordinary long weekend for me. What makes it extra special is the fact that i'll be turning a year "wiser" on Monday, April 7, which also happens to be a holiday. I don't have any plans yet on what to do this weekend. But, definitely I will spend my special day in the company of my husband and loved ones. I'm not sure what my hubby plans to do or if he has something special in-store for me but i'm pretty excited :)

As for my birthday wish, I only have one siguro. That is to get pregnant this year :) Yun lang. I will not wish for any material thing (but I would gladly accept another bag, hunny, lol!) * I'm such a pathetic baghag haha* In addition siguro, I will also wish for good health for me and for my family. I easily panic when a family member is sick. That's why I always pray to God to keep us all away from harm and any form of sickness.

I thank our Lord for the 35 wonderful years of my life and for all the blessings that He has given me and my family. I pray that He will continously bless us and give us more years of happiness.

    Good times!

    donate a boat

My parents taught us the virtue of sharing with our less fortunate brothers. That's why now that we, their children, are all grown-ups, we find ways to help those in needs even in our own little ways. One such organization that I want to help is Boatangel's, Donate my Boat to Charity project. You see, Boatangel uses Boat Donations to create videos of anti-drug documentaries which aims to help decrease the number of drug-related cases and cause society awareness. Aside from this, they also create positive children's animations and videos about teen boys rehabilitation homes and uplifting books for the prisoners. These are just the few worthy things that this organization is working on. And they can continue doing this if we help them in anyway possible. So, why don't you start now and Donate Boats. This is surely one worthy project that we all should take part of.

    It's my sister's bday!

Today is my dear sister's birthday. She's my only sister and I love her dearly. We may be different in a lot of ways but we understand and appreciate each other. I'll always be protective of her (and my brothers as well) no matter what.

For tonight's celebration, we'll just have a simple dinner at Conti's as it is a work day. I already reserved a table for us and hopefully, we'll enjoy a night full of laughter and good food. We sent her flowers today in her office and she was surprised! She thought it came from a secret admirer but no, it was from us, her siblings, lol.

Happy Birthday JUDY!!! We love you! !

Wishing you more success in your career, good health and hopefully, a wonderful and colorful lovelife this year!
